Acne affects between forty and fifty million people in the United States, from adolescents to adults of either sex. Acne most often appears on the face, forehead, chest, back, and shoulders, since these areas have the most oil glands. Whatever the cause or extent of your acne, the many acne and acne scar treatments we offer will help you make it a concern of the past as you look more youthful and attractive and feel more charming and confident.

What is acne?

Acne is an unsightly skin condition that occurs when the hair follicles on your face or another part of your body get plugged up or blocked with oil and dead skin cells. Healthy oil that should be reaching the surface of the skin in order to prevent it from becoming dried out, is instead accumulated within the pores and hair follicles, causing the lesions we know as zits.

What are acne scars?

As if the presence of acne wasn’t already cause for concern, acne often leaves behind it deep scarring that is difficult to conceal with makeup. Acne scars occur when acne blemishes become inflamed. Since scarring is not caused by poking or prodding the acne blemishes, but by the skin’s natural process of inflammation, it is best to have acne treated as rapidly as possible to reduce the likelihood of developing noticeable acne scarring.

Will acne and acne scars go away on their own?

For many people, acne will go away on its own at the end of puberty. However many people still suffer from it well into adulthood. Acne scars will not go away on their own but will need to be carefully treated by a professional.
