How Does EMFACE Work?

EMFACE uses HIFES combined with RF (radiofrequency) skin heating, specially designed for use on the face. EMFACE Treatments and Results

What is the difference between HIFEM/HIFEM+ and HIFES?

HIFEM utilizes a focused electromagnetic field that penetrates to the depth of 7-10 cm depending on the applicator and is important to stimulate a large volume of the target muscles. HIFEM is intended for major muscle groups such as gluteal muscles, abdominals, etc.

HIFES, however, is intended to stimulate delicate and superficial facial muscles. HIFES utilizes high-intensity electric fields to engage superficial facial muscles. These muscles require less depth of penetration and volumetric stimulation- such as the Frontalis muscle, Zygomaticus major, Zygomaticus minor, and Risorius.

Why do we not use HIFEM for the face?

HIFEM technology has shown to be effective for the areas that need deeper penetration and stimulation of large muscle volumes. Facial muscles are small and superficial and do not need deep penetration nor large volume stimulation. And so, HIFES is more suitable for the facial muscles.

Why do we not recommend EMS for the body?

EMS is not ideal for building muscle; it is superficial and follows the path of least resistance.

EMS on the body will not have the same effect as HIFEM since the penetration is not deep enough to cause significant changes in the muscles (hypertrophy/ hyperplasia).

What is Synchronized RF? How does it differ from the one used in EMSCULPT NEO?

Synchronized RF is the only patented radiofrequency technology that works simultaneously with muscle stimulation.

EMSCULPT NEO uses Bipolar Synchronized RF technology at 27.12 Mhz. The electrode consists of hundreds of bipolar electrode segments that penetrate deep in the tissue and accumulate heat in the deep FAT layer - important for Emsculpt NEO’s indication for use.

EMFACE uses monopolar Synchronized RF technology at 3.2 Mhz. This Hz rate has a more superficial heating effect(than NEOs Synchronized RF) and fits the needs in facial skin for collagen and elastin genesis. With our current protocol, Synchronized RF targets primarily epidermis and dermis.

Can I treat all skin types with EMFACE?

EMFACE is not restricted to any skin type.

Does EMFACE have an effect on sun exposure or melasma?

Over 700+ treatments were performed in our studies, and now over 3000 have been completed, with NO reported adverse events.

To this point, there have been no adverse events reported related to either sun exposure or melasma.

Does EMFACE reduce the fat on the face?

Current treatment protocol is not designed to cause FAT reduction/lipolysis.

The temperature in the fat layer does not exceed 40°C - 42°C, which is below the recognized temperature needed for the lipolysis of the fat cells.

What other areas can be treated with the EMFACE applicators? Why can’t I use EMFACE applicators on other body areas?

Applicators are designed explicitly for the facial areas.

Using the applicators on different body areas will not stimulate the muscles in that area properly, leading to an unknown (possibly undesirable) result.

If I’m “strengthening” the forehead muscle, why aren’t I creating more wrinkles?

With EMFACE, dermal thickness is improved, thereby making the skin harder to accordion (fold on itself). Second, the structure of the muscle and surrounding fascia is improved and provides more structural support for the skin. As a result, we are clinically seeing improvement of static forehead rhytids (wrinkles).

Emface helps restore more youthful function to facial muscles and promotes more youthful-looking skin, which doesn’t just look better, it functions more like it used to.
