Volbella is a new, innovative dermal filler in the Juvederm family. From the makers of the popular treatment, Botox, Volbella is quickly becoming the premier dermal filler in the cosmetic industry. It’s highly anticipated FDA approval is expected within months, and Dr. Yael Halaas will be the first doctor offering this treatment in New York. Dr. Halaas, a board certified facial plastic surgeon, has closely followed the Volbella clinical studies and is eager to provide her patients with this safe, yet highly effective treatment.
Volbella was developed specifically for use both in the lips and around the mouth area, and has been FDA approved to increase lip fullness and soften the appearance of lines around the mouth. The treatment can deliver highly noticeable, professional results and is used for a myriad of cosmetic enhancements, including:
- Filling and defining of the lips
- Smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles above the lips (“smoker’s lines”)
- Minimizing appearance of creases and wrinkles below the lips
How Volbella Is Different From Other HA Fillers
Volbella shares many qualities with its Juvederm filler counterparts, including the presence of hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is a naturally-occurring substance that helps to give a full, supple appearance to the face, often associated with youthful skin. However, Volbella stands out in the family of Juvederm fillers due to its unique, thin consistency. This allows the treatment to be injected very close to the skin’s surface, giving more noticeable results.
In addition, Volbella utilizes Juvederm’s exclusive VYCROSSTM technology, creating a pattern of cross-linked chains made of hyaluronic acid. This permits for slow degradation of the product once it has been administered in the skin, allowing Volbella’s results to be maintained for up to a year.
How Volbella works
While other HA fillers provide results by increasing volume in and around the lips, Volbella takes a different, more practical approach. Volbella minimizes wrinkles by attracting and retaining moisture in the treated area. When it is injected into the upper layers of the skin, the hyaluronic acid attracts water to the area, giving patients a naturally soft feel to the skin. Because Volbella is injected superficially, it is the perfect solution for treating wrinkles and fine lines around the lips. Volbella is ideal for patients who are not interested in increased volume, but are instead looking to simply reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the lips.
Volbella treatments are very time effective, with most treatments completed in less than 30 minutes and results seen immediately. Additionally, Volbella contains Licocaine, a numbing agent that ensures patient comfort both during and immediately after treatment. After treatment is complete, patients are free to continue with their day as normal.
Is Volbella Safe?
As with any new treatment, there may be general concern about undergoing a procedure that has just recently become FDA approved, however patients can rest assured that Volbella is certainly not a brand new dermal filler. Volbella underwent rigorous testing and numerous clinical trials to confirm its safe, and effective properties before it was considered for FDA approval. Furthermore, a recent clinical study found that 98% of patients who received Volbella were satisfied with their results. Volbella is also currently being used throughout Europe, where it has gained a large following and shown very promising results. We are thrilled to be able to offer our patients this new advancement in dermal fillers and are excited for its release in the United States.
