Neck lift surgery details

A neck lift is often done alongside a facelift, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be. Those who only need to address aesthetic neck issues can have the procedure done on its own. It is performed under local anesthesia and light sedation, or with IV sedation, and is usually done using either a cervicoplasty (a removal of excess skin) or with a platysmaplasty, which alters or removes the neck muscles. With both options, the neck lift procedure takes roughly 2-3 hours.

Recovery and results

After the procedure, your will be wrapped with bandages to wear for a few days. There will be some bruising, swelling, and mild discomfort, and the majority of patients require about two weeks to recover. Final results from a neck lift will will be visible in approximately four months, once the swelling and bruising have subsided completely. The scars should totally fade within a year. Neck lift results are very long-lasting.

Before & After

Who is a neck lift for?

  • Have neck skin that looks crepey or creased
  • Feel that their neck is making them look older/heavier than they are
  • Are non-smokers in general good health
