Dysport is an injectable form of botulinum toxin A, used to revitalize and rejuvenate the face. It works similarly to Botox.
The face is often the first place to display signs of aging with the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and sagging as the skin overlying facial muscles lose their elasticity with repeated motion.
Some of the uses of Dysport include correction of:
Dysport works as a muscle relaxant that temporarily blocks signals sent from the facial nerves to very specific facial muscles. When this movement is limited, the skin has the opportunity to revitalize, appearing smoother and less wrinkled over the course of several months.
Given in a short series of injections taking approximately 15 minutes there is no downtime following the treatment. Typically no anesthetic is used, however it is available to people who are pain sensitive and is given approximately 30 minutes prior to treatment.
Patients will see a difference in the area treated within 36 hours but effects of therapy will become more and more evident over the next week as wrinkle lines continue to fade.
Dysport treatment is safe and has been approved by the FDA. Each patient is different but results usually will last 3-4 months and can be safely repeated every 3-6 months to maintain the firmer, smoother revitalized appearance of the skin.
