Does Rhinoplasty hurt afterwards and how long does it take to heal from a nose job?

After a rhinoplasty procedure, you may experience a little discomfort and pressure. You should not experience any pain, as this is not typically a painful procedure. However, there will be some swelling and bruising as you heal. It will take about 7- 10 days for the bruising to recede, and the swelling will subside in about two to three weeks. Once the cast or stiches are removed 7 days after surgery, you can begin to enjoy the sites of New York City confidently with you’re new and improved profile.

What does it means to have double eyelid surgery?

Double eyelid surgery is a procedure intended for mainly patients of Asian heritage who want a more “westernized” look. This procedure creates a distinctive upper eyelid crease that lies just above the lash line.

I had an upper eyelid lift on one of my eyes a week ago and it is still swelling periodically throughout the day and night. The swelling is only on the one side of my face. Did my doctor do something wrong?

This is common so there is no need for alarm. Swelling is most visible during the first week after surgery and it will gradually subside in the next two weeks. I advise that you sleep with your head elevated and that you regularly use ice to prevent more swelling from occurring. It is also important to wear sunglasses when you go outside.

Can blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery be performed without anesthesia?

It is possible to perform upper and lower Blepharoplasty under local anesthesia without the need for general sedation. Local anesthesia is injected moments before the procedure to remove discomfort. You may feel pressure and movement but you will not feel any pain. More local anesthesia can be used if needed.

What is a blepharoplasty?

The eyelid is composed of the upper eyelid and the lower eyelid. Any of the four lids can be corrected. A blepharoplasty procedure removes fat pockets and excess skin as needed. There are two fat pockets in the upper lid and three fat pockets in the lower lid. Some patients get a blepharoplasty to lessen bags under their eyes or puffy upper lids. The procedure is also used to help peripheral vision when the upper lids droop too low and cover the eye, in turn blocking vision. Both upper and lower blepharoplasty can be done together, either under general anesthesia or local, as an outpatient procedure. Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is considered surgical eye rejuvenation.
