RESTORE YOUTHFUL VOLUME TO YOUR FACE WITH VOLUMA™
Voluma™ dermal filler in New York by Dr. Yael Halaas
What is Voluma?
Voluma™ is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel, part of the Juvéderm® line, that can instantly add volume to your cheek area. It is the first and only filler that is FDA-approved for this purpose.
It can provide a subtle lift to the cheeks that helps restore youthful contours and a more youthful profile. Benefits can last up to two years.
Voluma is used on a different area of the face from Juvéderm, which works to smooth moderate to severe wrinkles around the nose and mouth.
What are the benefits of Voluma?
- Instantly adds volume to the cheek area, resulting in a subtle lift
- Results last up to two years, with patients reporting looking five years younger after six months post-injections and looking three years younger after 24 months.
- Quick (24-hour) return to normal activities
Voluma by Juvéderm helps restore hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that aids in the skin’s hydration.
We lose hyaluronic acid as part of the aging process, and this results in a loss of skin volume, which gives the face, especially the cheek area, a sunken, aging appearance.
When Dr. Halaas injects the cheek area and the area above the cheekbones with Voluma dermal filler, it restores hyaluronic acid, rehydrates the skin, and restores the facial volume lost to the aging process.
Dr. Halaas is one of the first NYC plastic surgeons to administer Juvederm Voluma XC; allowing her patients to be some of the first to gain its benefits.
Juvederm Voluma XC can be seen as an alternative to Sculptra Aesthetic and Radiesse, yet is reversible, offering a safe experience to patients.

**NEED TO KNOW WHICH PATIENTS TO USE**
Who is a candidate for voluma dermal filler injection?
Voluma dermal filler is appropriate for anyone over 21 years of age whose face is showing a loss of facial volume that occurs as the body’s hyaluronic acid is depleted.
As we age, our cheeks flatten and lose their smooth contours. The skin in the mid-face region may sag. Voluma injectable gel was designed to reverse these signs of aging.
The Voluma injection procedure
Before placing Voluma injections, Dr. Halaas will take your medical history and ask you questions about your treatment goals.
After making sure you are a good candidate to benefit from Voluma injections, she will review what to expect during and after your injections. She will examine your skin and may take photos. The treatment area will be cleaned and prepared with alcohol or another antiseptic, and Dr. Halaas may use a pen to indicate the locations of your planned injections.
After making the first injection into your cheek, Dr. Halaas will wait a few seconds to allow the lidocaine in the Voluma gel to numb the area. She may also apply a topical anesthetic.
She will then inject additional Voluma gel in small amounts over the treatment area and may apply gentle massage to ensure even distribution of the Voluma gel.
An ice pack may be used following your injections to minimize swelling and reduce discomfort.
Voluma Injection recovery
You should be able to return to your normal activities with 24 hours of your Voluma injections, but during those first 24 hours you should minimize any strenuous activities and exercise, and avoid extensive exposure to sunlight or heat.
The most common side effects from Voluma injections are swelling, tenderness, firmness, and small lumps or bumps on the skin. All of these should resolve within two to four weeks. Swelling and discomfort can be reduced with ice packs applied to the treatment area.
Voluma Injection results
Voluma provides an immediate improvement in facial volume, resulting in a subtle “lift” to your facial features that can last up to two years.
A follow-up injection about a month after initial treatment may be required to achieve optimal results.
