Rhinoplasty in general requires an aesthetic eye, steady hands, and lots of experience. Surgery of the nasal tip is one of the most challenging aspects of rhinoplasty but surgery of the nostrils also requires a lot of care. There are a few different ways to narrow the alar base.

Your plastic surgeon should be able to show you the different locations for the incisions and tell you how the narrowed alar base will affect your appearance (it can make the tip more prominent, etc.). Measurement is extremely important when trying to make the nostrils even.  However, remember that complete perfection is not possible, but your surgeon should be able to make them as symmetrical as possible.
